Die Kelten betrachteten den Kopf als Sitz des Lebens (nicht allzuweit von der Wirklichkeit entfernt, also). Deswegen werden immer wieder Köpfe dargestellt. Zusammen mit römischen Einflüßen und später mit den Templern, sind die Kelten die Quelle für die klassische "Blattmasken" gewesen
