In the Cloister
nothing Christian can be found. No any image refers to the Bible or other Christian
stories. That is rather remarkable. Because these pictures are Plateresque (Renaissance)
Style, I first considered them to be a expression of liberation from the Church, which as
we all know indeed took place at that time. A revolution?
was close to the truth. In reality, Sancho Davila, Rector of the University of Salamanca
in 1569 managed to found a Faculty for Theology, Philosophy and Medicine here in this
monastery. Logically, there were great celebrations. Because its purpose was to finally
